Geely (full name Zhejiang Geely Holding Group) is a Chinese automotive group founded in 1986 by entrepreneur Li Shufu; it has built cars since 1997 as the first private Chinese carmaker. Besides its own Geely Auto brand, it owns or controls many other companies — among them Volvo Cars, Lotus, Polestar, Zeekr, Lynk & Co and Proton — and holds a stake in the Mercedes-Benz Group. One of China's largest manufacturers, it produces several million vehicles a year and remains privately held.
