Alpina Roadster V8
BMW started development work in the mid-1990s on a superlative roadster concept for the new millennium. The Z07 design study was first seen by the public in 1997, and series production began in 1999. Under its aluminum outer skin was an array of ultramodern technology, including an aluminum space frame and the high-performance V8 engine from the M5. For customers, who wanted to enjoy the Z8 in a more comfortable and relaxed way, ALPINA created a limited version with a slightly different character: marginally less power output and displacement, softer suspension, smoother steering, five-speed automatic transmission.
The car pictured is a pre-production prototype, not counted in the limited edition of 555.
