Nissan Navara [AU]
Rugged new styling, upgraded safety and a raft of driver-assist technologies are the highlights of the new Nissan Navara, with a potent and premium PRO-4X Dual Cab variant now headlining the exciting 2021 line-up.
Designed and built to perform in any situation, whether work or recreation, the new Navara further raises the bar in the fiercely competitive Australian ute market.
Seven airbags, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning and Intelligent Emergency Braking are standard equipment across all models, thanks to the advanced Nissan Intelligent Mobility systems, along with the latest infotainment technology.
The range has also been simplified to four key grades, with safety, engineering and technology upgrades also introduced.
Available in 4X2 and 4X4 drivetrain variants across three cab styles - Single, King and Dual Cab - customers will have the option of a six-speed manual gearbox or seven-speed automatic transmission with Pickup or Cab Chassis configurations. All models now have 17-inch wheels as a minimum, and a range of driver-alert systems.
All models now have 17-inch wheels as a minimum, along with the very latest in safety technology, including Driver- Attention Alert.
The popular Dual Cab Navara gains an increased payload capacity to a minimum of 1-tonne3. The Pickup bed has a larger volume, and Dual Cab models feature enhanced brakes and a strengthened rear axle to maintain performance under higher payloads, and there's an integrated step rear bumper on pickup models.
As towing capability is a fundamental market requirement in Australia, the new Navara is now fitted with trailer-sway control as standard across all models, and a towbar7 is fitted as standard equipment on all ST-X and PRO-4X models.
A tough design language defines the new Nissan Navara's market presence. It's an imposing look that sets it apart from the competition with a roomy, wide- bodied cabin appearance, enlarged front-wheel arches, an interlocked frame grille "and on ST models and above high-tech C-shaped quad LED projector headlamps combine to provide an unmistakable and distinctive identity.
Nissan Australia's Managing Director Stephen Lester said the improvements and upgrades on the new Navara continue to underpin its place as a key player in the Australian market.
"There is no more competitive ute market in the world than Australia and the latest Navara continues to build on a package that's trusted and respected by owners across the country," he says. "With a rugged new design, a broad array of new Nissan Intelligent Mobility safety features as standard and increased capability on and off-road, this is definitely the toughest and smartest Nissan Navara yet. Regardless of whether you're loading materials, towing your van or at school pick up, the new Nissan Navara is certain to exceed your needs as an extremely capable and refined vehicle."
The engine for the Navara range is the torque-rich 2.3-litre common-rail four- cylinder diesel, offered in both single and twin turbo, with the latter now offered across more models. The single turbo for the new entry-level Navara SL produces 120kW and 403Nm, while the twin turbo produces 140kW and 450Nm from as low as 1500rpm. Towing capacity is rated at 3.5 tonnes braked, and 750kg unbraked.
All Navara's wide-bodied cabins have a new 7.0-inch Advanced Drive-Assist instrument cluster display, with a high- contrast 8.0-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ connectivity. The steering wheel has been redesigned, and seat trims further upgraded with leather-accented features available on ST-X and above. Digital radio is standard on the ST grade and above. Two new premium paint colours have been added. Forged Copper has been added across King Cab and Dual Cab Pickup models, while Stealth Grey is exclusive to the PRO-4X.
Nissan also introduces the PRO-4X, which provides enhanced features, styling, interior comfort and capabilities.
Available only as a Dual Cab Pickup with either a manual or automatic transmission, the PRO-4X sits above the ST-X variant, as a "halo" model that incorporates the design features, styling and refinements demanded by buyers at the premium end of the utility market.
Every single new manual Nissan Navara carries a hallmark of Australian engineering ingenuity and manufacturing excellence, with the transmission case in each vehicle manufactured at Nissan's Australian manufacturing plant, Nissan Casting Australia Plant (NCAP) in Dandenong South, Victoria.
The Nissan Navara manual transmission case is one of the largest commercial vehicle transmission cases in the Nissan range, with the casting requiring a technologically advanced high pressure die casting machine with up to 2500-tonne capability.
The Navara transmission case itself is made of a lightweight high-strength alloy used by Nissan globally due to its excellent mechanical properties and machinability. Nissan's Australian manufacturing team also only uses 100 per cent recycled aluminium for its alloy to reduce waste and pollution while still achieving performance quality.
The Nissan Casting Australia Plant remains a shining light of Australian automotive manufacturing, with the facility located some 30 kilometres from Melbourne, where it employs around 200 workers and, at full capacity, operates three shifts a day, seven days a week.
And it's not just for the Navara, of course. The facility also produces key components for the fully electric Nissan LEAF vehicle and the international Nissan Note small car, with a maximum capacity of more than 2.5 million aluminium parts produced every year.
High-pressure aluminium die casting is a process in which molten metal is injected with a die casting machine under force, using considerable pressure, into a steel mould or die to form complex shaped products. Because of the dimensional accuracy and the smooth surfaces, the die castings require no machining.

The ute is no longer just the tradesman's tool - it is the choice of everyone from families to empty-nesters seeking adventure. What has never changed in Australia, though, is the demand for utes that are as tough as they look and capable of going anywhere and coping with anything. That's what the Nissan Navara has always been about.
The arrival of the latest Navara is cause for celebration for Australian buyers as it raises the game again with its boldly handsome new styling, a comfortable and technologically advanced cabin and a raft of driver-assist technologies.

There's plenty that's new to look at and touch inside as well, with an eight-inch touchscreen display that comes standard with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ connectivity. The steering wheel both looks and feels new, as it's been redesigned for better feel and functionality, while seat trims are also further upgraded.
Those who carry a lot of gear will be thrilled to learn that the hugely popular Dual Cab Navara models now come with a minimum payload of a full 1-tonne, while the bed has increased in volume.
Enthusiasts will also find plenty of excitement in the way new Navara drives, thanks to the excellent levels of feel and response from the steering, while the suspension remains tuned for the ultimate ride and handling balance.

It carries the new "interlock" grille - a unique feature found exclusively on the Nissan pickup family and first introduced on the latest Titan - creating a powerful front face for the vehicle.
Further highlighting the ute's imposing stance and tough image is the model name proudly embossed on the top of the front grille on ST models and above, and across the full width of the rear tailgate on all pickup models.
The Navara features all-new, high-tech C-shaped quad LED projector headlights with LED daytime running lights on ST models and above, increasing brightness and adding a level of sophistication to the rugged design.
At the back, seamless signature LED tail lamps on ST models and above provide an impressive appearance.

The new "interlock" grille is a unique feature found exclusively on the Nissan pickup family, creating a powerful front face for the vehicle.
The new Navara is one of the few Dual Cab models in its class to off er the ride comfort and capability of a five-link rear suspension with independent rear coil springs. With dual-rate coil springs and shock absorbers benefitting from development and tuning here in Australia, the Navara's independent suspension off ers high levels of refinement combined with uncompromised load-carrying and towing capability.
With the dual rate rear springs, the upper portion of each coil is tuned to deliver a comfortable ride when unladen, while the second portion is designed to allow heavier loads to be carried without compromising ride quality or handling.
For Dual Cab Chassis, King Cab and Single Cab, Navara features a "Multi-Leaf" spring set-up. This consists of several leaf springs of varying lengths stacked on top of each other and bound together to act as a single unit.
This allows for better control of unwanted axle movement and provides strength for heavy-duty use. The benefits of a leaf sprung vehicle include loadcarrying capabilities, improved departure angles and ground clearance.
The upgrade to 17-inch wheels as standard across the range improves both ride quality and grip on all surfaces, with wheel size increasing to 18 inches for the ST-X grade.
For the new Nissan Navara, all Dual Cab Pickup models have a minimum one-tonne payload capacity. In keeping with Nissan's tough engineering standards and to support this payload increase, the size of the rear brakes have been increased and the rear axle strengthened.

A towbar is standard on ST-X and PRO-4X. The Off -Road Monitor is also standard for 4X4 variants, including ST models and above.
A key safety and stability upgrade is the inclusion of Trailer Sway Control across all models. Trailer Sway Control has a yaw-rate detector, which determines when the trailer load has an unacceptable yaw-rate oscillation and automatically uses the braking system to maintain stability.
Hill Start Assist and Intelligent Emergency Braking, as well as the Intelligent Driver Alert to monitor driver fatigue, are also now standard on all models, with Hill Descent Control standard on all 4WD models.
Refinements to the interior of new Navara include enhanced cabin-noise suppression in Dual Cab models, and upgraded seat materials, all of which allows owners to more fully appreciate a new level of ride quality.
The engine for the Navara range is the torque-rich 2.3-litre common-rail four-cylinder diesel, offered in both single and twin-turbo configurations. The single-turbo diesel for the new entry-level Navara SL produces 120kW and 403Nm of torque. The twin-turbo diesel engine is offered across the majority of the range, and produces 140kW and 450Nm from as low as 1500rpm. Both provide the power to perform, with towing capacity rated at 3.5 tonnes maximum braked towing capacity, and 750kg without.
The new Nissan Navara delivers new premium safety and connectivity features as standard, with seven airbags, a fatigue-focused Intelligent Driver Alert system and predictive forward collision warning, plus an intelligent emergency braking system.
From the SL base model upwards, Nissan has equipped Navara with classleading attributes and driver aids that prioritise the safety of all occupants, while delivering the highest levels of vehicle connectivity in its class.
It starts with 80 years of ute-building engineering know-how, with new Navara using a reinforced, fully boxed ladder frame with welded cross members to reduce flexing, increase durability and enhance crash performance.
The double wishbone front suspension delivers exceptional handling precision and stability, while the five-link dualrate rear coil spring suspension (Dual Cab pickup models only) allows the rear suspension to better conform to the demands of off -road driving through greater wheel articulation. The dual-rate rear springs (Dual Cab pickup models only) have benefitted from testing under Australian conditions, allowing heavier loads to be carried without compromising posture, ride or handling quality, even while towing. All models - except the ST-X with 18-inch rims - now have 17-inch wheels.
As statutory demands and workplace health and safety requirements have increased, so too has Nissan's desire to exceed those levels. This ensures that those living and working in the harshest and most demanding of Australia's remote and rural areas are protected and supported by an impressive suite of technical and engineering safeguards.
As more and more Australian vehicle buyers look towards the ute segment, their desire is to own a more versatile and adventurous vehicle that can be used for work during the week and to play on the weekends. Capability is key, and the best way to personalise your vehicle to your needs is with accessories.
With a new range of Nissan Genuine Accessories available for the latest Navara, customers are able to take that step with a one-stop shop that delivers with a fiveyear warranty10 and the ability to finance your options through Nissan Financial Services Australia when purchased as part of a new vehicle package.
All Nissan Genuine Accessories have been designed to meet the strict design criteria set by Nissan's R&D teams and accessory experts. All items have been built to operate seamlessly with the vehicle and the new safety systems found on the MY21 Navara - something that aftermarket brands cannot always guarantee.
New Nissan Navara is offered with three new bull bars. Two black steel off-road options - one without hoops for a streamlined look and one with hoops - add more protection for the front lighting system and grille, while the third option in the range is a premium hoopless bullbar, which neatly integrates the fog lamps into the design.
All bullbars are winch compatible, with recovery hooks built into the winch cradle. A suitable winch is also available to seamlessly integrate with the ute's body, frontal protection and recovery package.
Each bullbar not only incorporates stage 1 underbody protection with the Navara wordmark laser cut into the metal, but also has a provision for the Nissan Genuine LED Light bar to be fitted, for additional illumination when driving the back roads and beaten trails at night. A stage 2 underbody protection plate is available to further protect your engine and transmission.
If bullbars are not your scene, the Genuine Accessory Nudge Bar is also available. Tailored to fit the front bumper design of the vehicle, this unit can be fitted with or without the LED light bar.
For those keen to take their adventure a bit further, a Nissan Genuine Snorkel and Nissan Genuine Fender Flares support the go-anywhere nature of Navara.
Putting the Navara back to work, the Nissan Genuine towbar is uprated for MY21, with a 350kg towball capacity maximising the 3.5-tonne braked towing7 capacity of the vehicle. A new ladder rack system that works with the sports bar and roof racks enables the carriage of longer roof loads in a safe and easy way. Alternatively, there are a number of tub storage options from soft tonneau covers, hard lockable tonneau covers and a re-designed canopy that will be released shortly.
Further supporting your adventures, a roof platform is now available in addition to roof racks to help you carry your gear.
Whichever way you choose to use your Navara, you can be certain that there is a Nissan Genuine Accessory engineered specifically for your vehicle to suit your work, play and adventure needs.
