Efficient, emotive and electrifying - these attributes neatly sum up the ENYAQ iV. In launching its first all-electric SUV, the Czech car manufacturer has taken the biggest step yet in its electromobility strategy. The new ENYAQ iV is the first ŠKODA production model to be based on Volkswagen Group's MEB modular electric car platform. It is built at ŠKODA's main plant in Mladá Boleslav, making it the only MEB-based model in Europe to be manufactured outside of Germany. ŠKODA's new flagship boasts generous amounts of space as is typical of the brand, and - thanks to its emotive design language - its appearance is electrifying too. Inside, new Design Selections replace the classic trim levels, while a clear and new structure of the options available means the car can be configured with just a few clicks. The ENYAQ iV comes with rear- or all-wheel drive, and there are five power levels and three battery sizes to choose from. The range of more than 520 km in the WLTP cycle is perfectly suitable for travelling long distances. The car will be launched in the spring of 2021.

Wide range of powertrain variants with three battery sizes and five power levels
The new ŠKODA ENYAQ iV fully exploits the technical possibilities and flexibility that the MEB modular electric car platform has to offer. The battery - which is fitted in the floor - is available in three sizes, and one or two electric motors provide a power output between 109 kW and 220 kW. Depending on the model, power is transmitted to the rear or all four wheels, and the range is more than 520 km in the WLTP cycle. The electric SUV suits various needs from a spacious and agile city car for families to a vehicle ideal for those who travel long distances. Equipped with the right, optional tow bar, the all-electric SUV can even tow trailers weighing up to 1,400 kg.
Plenty of space, emotive design and Crystal Face highlight
The ŠKODA ENYAQ iV's design is characterised by balanced proportions - it is emotive, powerful and dynamic. The new SUV has an extremely spacious interior. The capacity of the boot is 585 l. The optional Crystal Face is, quite literally, the highlight: the vertical ribs of the striking ŠKODA grille are illuminated by 131 LEDs, while a horizontal light strip rounds off the car's stunning look. Together with the daytime running lights and the LED modules of the full LED Matrix headlights for low beam and high beam, the lit-up grille creates a welcoming display. Large wheels (18- to 21-inch diameter) accentuate the ENYAQ iV's attractive appearance. In the Founders Edition, the Crystal Face and 21-inch wheels form part of the extensive range of standard equipment. This special edition is limited to 1,895 units - a tribute to the year in which Václav Laurin and Václav Klement founded the company.
New interior concept with Design Selections and a large 13-inch display
In the interior, ŠKODA has replaced the classic trim levels with Design Selections. To mirror modern living environments, each Design Selection offers tastefully coordinated colours and materials. Natural, sustainably processed and recycled materials are also used. A clear and new structure of the choices available means it's easier to configure the ENYAQ iV individually: eleven cleverly arranged theme packages, as well as select individual options, allow for quick and easy personal configuration of the vehicle. The 13-inch central display is the largest screen in any ŠKODA model. The new Digital Cockpit measures 5.3 inches; a head-up display is another option available. Here, ŠKODA is using augmented reality for the first time to provide the driver with even more targeted information so they don't have to take their eyes off the road. In addition to that, the ŠKODA ENYAQ iV is always online and cleverly connected. Battery charging and the air conditioning can be remotely controlled via the MyŠKODA app. New Simply Clever details make the everyday use of an electric vehicle easier: alongside a cleaner for the charging cable, the car is equipped with a dedicated bag for the cable and a protective cap for the charging socket. And the ENYAQ iV also comes with Simply Clever classics, such as the ŠKODA ice scraper which is inside the tailgate.
Electric powertrain: First MEB-based ŠKODA production model
The ENYAQ iV is the first ŠKODA production model to be based on Volkswagen Group's Modular Electrification Toolkit (MEB). The MEB consists of what is known as the skateboard platform, in which the battery is incorporated into the floor to save space. The all-electric SUV is available with three battery sizes, five power variants and rear- or all-wheel drive, and therefore caters to a wide range of needs for a variety of uses. Requiring little time to recharge and offering ranges of up to 510 km in the WLTP cycle, the ENYAQ iV is ideal for everyday use as well as for covering long distances. ŠKODA's new flagship is made at the Czech carmaker's main plant in Mladá Boleslav - making it the only model in Europe based on Volkswagen Group's MEB platform to be built outside Germany.

There is also a perfect ENYAQ iV for people who drive a lot looking for maximum range and quick charging, as well as for customers with a dynamic driving style who expect optimal performance even from an electric SUV.
Entry-level variants with rear-mounted engine and rear-wheel drive
In the ENYAQ iV, ŠKODA is making use of an all-new drive concept that nevertheless makes some reference to the company's history: just as with many of the brand's past models, ŠKODA is making use of rear-wheel drive for its new electric SUV too. The ENYAQ iV is a versatile partner for the daily commute as well as long distances. Its maximum range is 510 km in the WLTP cycle and it has a superfast-charging capacity of up to 125 kW. The 82-kWh battery, which has a net capacity of 77 kWh, can be charged from 5 to 80 per cent in just 38 minutes at correspondingly powerful DC charging points. At home, the ENYAQ iV can conveniently be 'refuelled' overnight using an AC wall box of up to 11 kW - depending on the battery size, this process takes six to eight hours. What's more, the ENYAQ iV is equipped with a special iV universal charger that fits all conventional charging sockets.
Five power variants, three battery sizes, two motors and all-wheel drive
Offering three battery sizes and five different power variants, the ŠKODA ENYAQ iV makes driving both sustainable and fun. In addition to the one on the rear axle, the two most powerful models are also fitted with a second electric motor on the front axle that transfers the SUV's torque of 425 and 460 Nm respectively to the road via all four wheels. The entry-level ŠKODA ENYAQ 50 iV is fitted with a 109-kW rear-mounted engine and rear-wheel drive; its maximum torque is 220 Nm. Its lithium-ion battery has a gross capacity of 55 kWh (52 kWh net) and it has a range of up to 340 km. Equipped with a 62-kWh battery (58 kWh net), the 132-kW ENYAQ 60 iV can cover up to 390 km; its maximum torque is 310 Nm.
The ENYAQ 80 iV has an output of 150 kW, torque of up to 310 Nm and, at 510 km in the WLTP cycle, boasts the longest maximum range. The 82-kWh battery (77 kWh net) is also used in the two all-wheel-drive variants - combined with the second electric motor on the front axle, the ENYAQ 80x iV produces 195 kW and the ENYAQ RS iV delivers 225 kW. Both of these models have a range of 460 km.
The range-topping ŠKODA ENYAQ RS iV is particularly fun to drive. It accelerates from a standing start to 100 km/h in just 6.2 seconds, and achieves a top speed of 180 km/h - 20 km/h faster than other power variants. In addition, the most powerful ENYAQ iV can tow a trailer weighing up to 1,400 kg; the SUV can be fitted with an electrically retractable tow bar as an optional extra.
Outstanding aerodynamics for greater efficiency
The ŠKODA ENYAQ iV's aerodynamics - which are outstanding for an SUV - allow for a high level of efficiency and, as a result, long ranges. This is also evident in the drag coefficient (cd) from 0.27, which is achieved with the help of tyres that boast a particularly low rolling resistance. A heat pump, which is used for the heating and air conditioning in the interior, is an optional extra for the electric SUV. A highly efficient heat pump system compresses refrigerant under high pressure. This produces heat, which is used to warm up the cold air flowing into the car.
Interior highlights: pleasant ambience created through Design Selections
ŠKODA has also taken a new approach in the creation of the ENYAQ iV's interior, now offering innovative Design Selections instead of classic trim levels and a clear and new structure for the options available. The Design Selections have been inspired by modern living environments: the style, colours and materials used are all perfectly coordinated. The ENYAQ iV is now very easy to configure in just a few steps because of the completely new structure for the choices on offer. Customers can choose from eleven theme packages and select individual options - regardless of their preferred model.
Peter Olah, Head of Interior Design at ŠKODA, said: "We were able to break completely new ground when designing the interior of the ENYAQ iV. The absence of a transmission tunnel, as this is not required for all-electric vehicles, resulted in more space for passengers and additional storage. We also made use of this conceptual advantage to create a sense of even greater spaciousness. The multi-level arrangement of the dashboard which extends across the entire width of the ENYAQ iV, also makes the interior feel bigger. Our new Design Selections, which offer customers perfectly harmonious environments, enhance the model's special lounge-like character."
It takes just six steps to a fully configured ŠKODA ENYAQ iV. This is made possible by the innovative Design Selections with holistically coordinated interior options and a new structure for the choices available. This consists of eleven theme packages arranged by elements such as comfort, climate control, assistance systems and infotainment. Select individual options allow the customer to add the finishing touches to their personally configured ENYAQ iV. The Design Selections, which are based on modern living environments, follow a certain style for the upholstery, decorative trims, instrument panels and materials, for example. The floor mats' and centre console's detailing also differs, both from a visual point of view and feel. The LED ambient lighting with different colours and a varying range of functions includes a ŠKODA logo, which projects boarding spots onto the ground from the wing mirrors.
The 'Studio' is the entry-level trim for the ENYAQ iV 50. This uncluttered, consistent style adheres to the 'form follows function' principle. Studio makes use of the elegant colour combination of grey and black in the materials used for the interior.
The ENYAQ iV 60 and ENYAQ iV 80 models come with the Design Selection 'Loft' as standard. It embodies a modern, homely and family-friendly feel with easy to clean materials. The harmonious combination of grey and black shades is elegant and timeless.
The optional Design Selection 'Lodge' focuses on sustainability. The seat covers are made of 40% natural new wool with the Woolmark Company quality seal and 60% polyester from recycled PET bottles. The dashboard is upholstered in fabric; the soft materials and light colours create an inviting and pleasant atmosphere.
Leather and Suedia microfibre provide the Design Selection 'Lounge' with distinct aesthetics and lend it a modern look. Coloured piping and contrasting stitching - including on the Suedia-covered dashboard - form part of this interior's exclusive details.
Soft, black leather seats with contrasting cognac-coloured stitching and piping as well as black decorative trims exude understated luxury in the Design Selection 'Suite' and offer passengers a high level of comfort.
The Design Selection 'ecoSuite' unites the classic and luxurious feel of a leather sofa with a strong commitment to sustainability. The cognac-coloured leather upholstery of the seats is tanned through an eco-friendly process using olive leaf extracts without the use of any chemicals. Stone-grey piping and contrasting stitching finish the look off in style.
Wide range of standard equipment even in the entry-level variant
ŠKODA has equipped its first all-electric SUV, even the entry-level ENYAQ iV 50, with a comprehensive range of equipment as standard. In the interior, this includes dual-zone Climatronic, a two-spoke multifunction leather steering wheel in the new ŠKODA styling with control buttons and knurled wheels, as well as the KESSY GO keyless start button. Models with larger batteries also come with a heated steering wheel with paddles to adjust the degree of energy recovery. Every model comes with a 5.3-inch Digital Cockpit.
Adding extra features to the ŠKODA ENYAQ iV is easy thanks to eleven optional theme packages - most of which are available as a Basic as well as a Plus bundle. The range of options for climate control includes heated front and rear seats, a heated windscreen and tri-zone Climatronic. In terms of 'Family' options, the choice includes sun visors for the rear windows, an electric child safety lock, and a Sleep package for the rear seats. Full LED Matrix headlights are included in the range of options for the 'Light & View' package. The Comfort Seat package offers electric seat adjustment. In the Plus bundle, the driver's seat comes with a massage function. The optional infotainment packages allow the driver to benefit from a navigation function and/or a head-up display with augmented reality. The numerous assistance systems as well as features relating to driving dynamics - such as progressive steering, adaptive Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) and a multifunction sports steering wheel with three spokes - have also been incorporated into the packages. The Plus bundle of the Convenience package includes the KESSY keyless entry system for all doors as well as an electric tailgate complete with a virtual pedal enabling the tailgate to be opened by waving a foot under the rear bumper. This feature, together with the low loading sill, provides convenient access to the 585-litre boot. There are also numerous storage options with a total capacity of 48 l, including two compartments in the centre console.
In addition to the optional packages, there are also specific individual elements available for all models. These include an anti-theft warning feature with interior surveillance, side airbags in the rear, a panoramic sliding roof, an electrically retractable tow bar and a lowered sports chassis. The iV Universal Charger, the increase of the battery's maximum DC charging capacity to 100 kW or 125 kW respectively and a heat pump can also be ordered for all variants, the latter of which allows the cabin to be heated using less energy.

When creating the ENYAQ iV, ŠKODA used the Volkswagen Group's MEB modular electric car platform, applying an all-new vehicle concept. The entry-level variants with rear motor and rear-wheel drive have been technically inspired by well-known models from the brand's history. The electric motor is integrated into the rear axle and drives the rear wheels via a single-speed gearbox. Front-wheel-drive ŠKODA vehicles with a conventional transverse-mounted combustion engine either come with a manual gearbox with up to six speeds or a DSG with up to seven speeds. In contrast to an internal combustion engine, these gear ratios are not necessary for an electric motor as the maximum torque is available straight away and consistently across a wide speed range. A single speed is therefore sufficient for all types of driving situations; to reverse, the direction of rotation of the electric drive system is simply reversed using the power electronics. Compared to a conventional transmission, a single-speed gearbox is lighter and more compact, requiring less space. The more powerful variants of the ENYAQ iV are fitted with a second electric motor on the front axle and are therefore four-wheel drive. The air conditioning, heating and optional heat pump are also located directly on the front axle. Due to their design, an exhaust system with catalytic converters or particulate filters is obsolete for all-electric vehicles.
Whereas a ŠKODA model with an internal combustion engine requires fuel, which is stored in a tank under the rear seats, the ENYAQ iV is powered by high-voltage batteries located between the front and rear axles in the floor. Depending on the capacity, the battery consists of several modules, each containing 24 lithium-ion cells. They have a power output of up to 125 kW and are capable of fast charging. The ENYAQ iV's largest battery can be recharged from 5 to 80% in 38 minutes. The ENYAQ iV can be conveniently charged overnight at home using an AC ŠKODA iV Charger wall box delivering up to 11 kW. The charging process for this takes six to eight hours, depending on the battery size. It will take roughly the same time when charging the car at a public AC station with the same maximum output. To this end, the ENYAQ iV comes equipped with a Mode-3 charging cable as a standard. The SUV can also be recharged with 2.3 kW using a standard 230-volt household socket. The optional Mode-2 charging cable of the ENYAQ iV fits all conventional charging sockets. The iV Universal Charger - a mobile solution with interchangeable connector plugs - is available as an optional extra. Using the CEE adapter, the vehicle can be recharged with up to 11 kW; a Schuko adapter for household sockets is another optional extra.
Catherine Lee Oppenheimer, Battery Development Engineer at ŠKODA AUTO, said: "The batteries for the ENYAQ iV are about half a metre long and, depending on their capacity, weigh between 350 and 500 kg. They are developed and produced at Volkswagen Group and consist of state-of-the-art battery technology. Of course, these batteries differ greatly from the ones we are familiar with - such as those in our laptops - in terms of their capacity, lifespan and level of safety. The design is based on what is known as pouch cells. These battery packs consist of several active layers that are stacked or folded and enclosed by a flexible outer film. Pouch cells feature a high degree of flexibility regarding their shape and can be ideally adapted to the respective requirements. Furthermore, they dissipate heat particularly well thanks to their smooth surface."

The combined consumption is 15.2-21.6 kWh/100 km in the WLTP cycle. Its 82-kWh battery (77 kWh net) is also used by the two all-wheel-drive variants. Fitted with a second electric motor, the ENYAQ iV 80x produces 195 kW and the ENYAQ RS iV 220 kW. The system torque is 425 and 460 Nm respectively, the range more than 500 and 460 km. As the sporty range-topping model, the ENYAQ RS iV has a top speed of 180 km/h, which is 20 km/h faster than the other variants in the series. It completes the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.2 seconds. The ENYAQ iV 80x and ENYAQ RS iV can also tow a trailer weighing up to 1,400 kg.
Excellent handling characteristics and optional sports chassis
With its low centre of gravity due to the battery installed in the floor, the ŠKODA ENYAQ iV is very safe to drive and has excellent handling characteristics. The electric SUV is even more dynamic on the road when fitted with the optional sports chassis. In addition to a firmer suspension, this option lowers the front axle by 15 mm and the rear by 10 mm. Adaptive Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) is another option. This feature continuously assesses the driving situation and adjusts the damping and steering accordingly. The basic settings - Eco, Comfort, Normal and Sport - can be chosen in Driving Mode Select, while in the Individual mode, these can be fine-tuned in 15 steps using a slider. The ENYAQ iV's agility is impressive, as it has no conventional transmission shafts on the front axle, unlike a vehicle with an internal combustion engine. With a turning circle of just 9.3 m in the rear-wheel-drive variant, it beats the ŠKODA KODIAQ by 2.3 m. This manoeuvrability is particularly useful in the city.
Highly effective and efficient brake energy recovery
Brake energy recovery in the ŠKODA ENYAQ iV ensures excellent deceleration and supports the vehicle's braking system. This increases efficiency and mileage, as the energy released during braking is not lost in the form of heat, but is converted into electric energy and fed into the battery. This means that the electric motor acts as a generator. For the driver, this process is most convenient in automatic recuperation mode. In combination with the intelligent Traffic Sign Recognition feature and data from the camera and radar sensors, the ENYAQ iV adjusts the degree of recuperative braking in each respective driving situation - automatically, continuously and particularly efficiently. This reduces the use and therefore the level of wear of the brakes, saves energy and increases driving safety. Using the paddles on the steering wheel, the driver can manually adjust the degree of recuperation and with it the level of braking assistance at any time. As soon as the driver steps on the accelerator, the automatic mode is reactivated. In regular driving mode D, the driver can manually set three recuperation levels using the paddles: D1 for a mild braking effect with a deceleration of 0.6 m/s², D2 with 1.0 m/s² and D3 with 1.5 m/s². Level D3, which is also activated directly by sliding the selector switch to mode B, provides the maximum delay. If no recuperation level is selected, the ENYAQ iV simply rolls on in idle when the driver takes their foot off the accelerator. When the driver steps on the brake pedal, the vehicle primarily uses recuperation to decelerate - provided the battery has sufficient storage capacity - only activating the conventional braking system if required. The front wheels feature ventilated disc brakes. As the rear brakes are used infrequently due to the brake energy recovery system, the rear wheels are fitted with robust drum brakes, which are particularly resistant to corrosion thanks to their closed design.
Many details ensure excellent aerodynamics
A drag coefficient (cd) from 0.257, which is outstanding in this vehicle segment, is evidence of the ŠKODA ENYAQ iV's excellent aerodynamics and enables high efficiency and therefore long ranges. To achieve this, ŠKODA's new SUV makes use of clever details such as the active cooling roller blind in the lower air inlet of the front bumper. The aerodynamically optimised front apron and a front spoiler guide the air to specifically flow under the vehicle, where covers and a flat underbody reduce air turbulence. Air curtains as well as aerodynamically optimised wheels and wing mirrors direct the airflow to the rear around the vehicle in a controlled manner. The vehicle's height, which is low for an SUV, its elongated roofline and the roof spoiler with integrated side finlets all reduce air turbulence at the rear. The excellent aerodynamics also ensure low wind noise.
Connectivity: new Digital Cockpit, 13-inch display and online services specific to all-electric vehicles
New display formats and online services specific to all-electric vehicles define the ENYAQ iV's advanced infotainment from the latest-generation Modular Infotainment Matrix technology. The control centre is the centrally positioned touchscreen which, at 13 inches, is the largest display in a ŠKODA. It can also be operated by gesture control and via the Laura digital voice assistant. The newly designed 5.3-inch Digital Cockpit clearly displays the most important information. The driver can choose between four different layouts, which can be operated intuitively using the multifunction steering wheel. A permanent internet connection enables the use of numerous innovative online services, many of which are specifically designed for electric vehicles, such as controlling battery charging or the interior's air conditioning remotely via the MyŠKODA app.
The ŠKODA ENYAQ iV features two digital screens in new formats. The redesigned Digital Cockpit displays the most important information such as speed, driving data, navigation and active assistance systems, on a 5.3-inch screen. The driver uses the multifunction steering wheel to control numerous vehicle functions and assistance systems as well as to switch between the four different Digital Cockpit layouts. The optional head-up display projects additional information in clear view of the driver.
Infotainment system with the largest touchscreen in a ŠKODA
With an impressive screen size of 13 inches, the ENYAQ iV's free-standing display is the largest in any current ŠKODA model. The layouts can be personalised and the touchscreen can be operated using a touch slider, multi-touch gestures, gesture control or the Laura digital voice assistant. She understands instructions in 15 languages, six of which she can even process in fluently spoken sentences. The ENYAQ iV's infotainment system receives DAB digital radio as well as internet and hybrid radio as standard. A smartphone can be paired with the system without a cable using Wireless SmartLink, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay or MirrorLink™ and can be charged inductively when placed in the Phone Box. From the ENYAQ iV 60 upwards, an amplifier with 4 x 20 watts and eight speakers come as standard; the ENYAQ iV 50 has four speakers.
Specific functions for all-electric vehicles from ŠKODA Connect
Thanks to a built-in eSIM, the ŠKODA ENYAQ iV comes with a permanent internet connection, giving users access to numerous functions that are backed by online data and allowing navigation maps or the system software to be updated remotely. Traffic information, for example, is based on real-time data obtained from the internet, as is the route planner of the optional navigation function. Some options in the comprehensive range of mobile online services available on ŠKODA Connect have been specifically designed to meet the requirements of electromobility. Using the MyŠKODA app or the web portal, the owner can remotely control battery charging, switch on the air conditioning before starting their journey or set corresponding schedules. Numerous other services will also be added remotely soon. The ENYAQ iV will be able to send messages to the user's smartphone, for example, if it has been stolen, leaves a predefined area or is travelling faster than the speed limit set. In the future, Care Connect services will be able to diagnose or even rectify faults remotely in the event of problems with the vehicle. Services from the Infotainment Online area can assist with planning aspects concerning the range or display real-time traffic light changes along the route, for example, allowing the driver to take advantage of a 'green wave'.
Vehicle functions can be easily expanded as required
It will be possible to expand vehicle functions in the course of ownership. The navigation function, additional colours for the ambient lighting, Adaptive Cruise Control or Auto Light Assist, for example, can then be activated via the infotainment system in the vehicle or the ŠKODA Connect web portal. It will also be possible to conveniently book the upgrade of the DC battery's charging capacity from 50 kW to 100 kW or 125 kW online.
Safety: nine airbags and state-of-the-art assistance systems
The ŠKODA ENYAQ iV offers its passengers high levels of active and passive safety. The all-electric SUV boasts up to nine airbags, a comprehensive and proactive Crew Protect Assist feature and numerous assistance systems. Travel Assist provides support with longitudinal and lateral steering, and the latest assistance systems can warn of potential collisions. With the head-up display in the brand's all-electric SUV, ŠKODA is using augmented reality for the first time to provide the driver with even more targeted information so they don't have to take their eyes off the road. Full LED Matrix headlights provide greater safety when driving in the dark.
The all-electric ENYAQ iV is the first ŠKODA that can be equipped with an innovative head-up display with augmented reality which projects information for the driver onto two different areas. In addition to the current speed and detected traffic signs, information from the assistance systems and navigation instructions can also be displayed on the windscreen just above the dashboard in immediate view of the driver. The larger projection zone for augmented reality is located higher up on the windscreen, still in clear view of the driver. Here, larger symbols such as directional arrows from the navigation system are displayed and virtually projected onto the road ahead. Information relating to Adaptive Lane Assist or Adaptive Cruise Control is also shown here, as are traffic signs and warnings. Via the infotainment system's menu, the driver can adjust the position of the display area on the windscreen, set the colour and brightness, and select what information is shown.
Full LED Matrix headlights allow the driver to leave the high beam on at all times
The optional full LED Matrix headlights provide a big boost in safety when driving in the dark. Each Matrix high beam module contains 24 LEDs, which can be controlled individually and enable the driver to have the high beam on at all times without dazzling other road users. If a camera on the windscreen detects vehicles as well as people and objects reflecting the light, the intelligent lighting technology automatically turns off individual segments of the light beam.
Innovative assistance systems to help prevent collisions
The ENYAQ iV can be fitted with any of the state-of-the-art assistance systems ŠKODA offers. Front Assist with Predictive Pedestrian and Cyclist Protection as well as Side Assist including Rear Traffic Alert warn of collisions with other vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians and fixed obstacles. Front Assist can prevent an accident completely or at least minimise its consequences. Innovative new assistance systems also boost safety. In the event of an impending collision with a pedestrian, cyclist or other vehicle, for example, Collision Avoidance Assist supports the driver by making targeted interventions in the steering to prevent the accident from occurring. When turning left at junctions, Turn Assist detects oncoming traffic at an early stage, warns the driver and automatically brings the car to a stop if necessary. When a door is opened, Exit Warning alerts the occupant if another vehicle or a cyclist approaches from behind. It does this acoustically and visually via a light signal on the inside of the wing mirror housing.
Proactive Crew Protect Assist and up to nine airbags
Should a collision be imminent despite all the assistance systems or if the driver initiates a sudden braking manoeuvre, the proactive Crew Protect Assist feature will automatically take precautions to protect the vehicle's occupants in the best possible way. The system will tension the seat belts and close the windows and the panoramic sliding roof, both in the event of an impending collision and if the car is in danger of skidding or tipping over. In the event of an accident, the ENYAQ iV's occupants are protected by up to nine airbags. Driver and front passenger airbags are fitted as standard, as are front side airbags and two curtain airbags, which cover the side windows in the first and second rows of seats. A central airbag between the front seats reduces the impact between the driver and front passenger. Two additional side airbags for the outer rear seats are optional.
Travel Assist provides active support for longitudinal and lateral steering and comprises Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Adaptive Lane Assist including roadwork recognition, Traffic Jam Assist and Emergency Assist. The system is activated at the touch of a button, which is located on the multifunction steering wheel, keeping the ENYAQ iV in its current lane and automatically monitoring the distance to vehicles in front. In congested traffic, Travel Assist can autonomously bring the ENYAQ iV to a stop, make it pull away and follow other vehicles. When the indicator is activated, the system assists in changing lanes and provides steering support through tight corners. Travel Assist displays the vehicle's surroundings in the ENYAQ iV's screens, allowing the driver to see any objects the vehicle sensors detect. Soon, the next-stage system will be able to take over lateral steering in narrow spaces in the city using online information based on current data clusters. Adaptive Cruise Control, which in its predictive version also incorporates data from the navigation system and detected traffic signs, will also be able to react to obstacles reported via online traffic data. The Travel Assist function requires the driver to keep their hands on the steering wheel. If the vehicle detects that the driver is no longer steering, braking or accelerating, Emergency Assist attempts to initially warn them visually, then acoustically and ultimately by jolting the brakes. If the driver fails to react, the hazard lights are activated, the vehicle is brought to a standstill in its current lane and eCall is triggered.
The current version of the optional Park Assist feature automatically manoeuvres the vehicle into and out of parallel and bay parking spaces. The next version will also be able to brake automatically and prevent the car from colliding with pedestrians or objects. Remote parking goes a step further, allowing drivers to remotely control their ENYAQ iV via the MyŠKODA app on a smartphone to direct it into very tight parking spaces. With the Trained Parking feature, the system records the route into a frequently used parking space, for example in a narrow or angled driveway, and can automatically repeat this route at any time. Area View is even better than the optional rear-view camera, as its four cameras create a 360-degree top-down image of the ENYAQ iV's immediate surroundings.
Simply Clever: new solutions for an electric everyday life
As we enter the era of electromobility, new Simply Clever features are helping to make the all-electric daily routine easier for ŠKODA ENYAQ iV owners. The Czech car manufacturer provides smart answers to questions such as 'Where do I store the charging cable?' and 'How do I keep my hands clean when handling the cable?' The charging cable can be easily cleaned with a cable cleaner before it is stored away in a dedicated bag in the boot. A protective cap covers the charging socket of the ENYAQ iV during charging. The optional tow bar can be electrically unlocked, folded out and retracted. As well as an umbrella in the driver's door and ice scraper with a tyre tread depth gauge stored inside the tailgate, the range of equipment also includes Simply Clever classics.
ŠKODA is known for its numerous Simply Clever features which make everyday use of the vehicle easy and convenient, for example the ticket holder on the A-pillar and the bag hooks in the boot. The two smartphone storage pockets on the backrests of the front seats are particularly practical for rear-seat passengers. Optional extras include mechanically retractable sunblinds on the side windows and the Sleep package with two comfortable, larger headrests and a blanket.
As all-electric vehicles don't have a transmission tunnel, ŠKODA's designers have taken advantage of this to create a new interior concept for the ENYAQ iV which includes clever storage options. They devised a bridge-like centre console which accommodates a second storage compartment with a capacity of 11.4 l in addition to the 6.2-litre Jumbo Box under the centre armrest. ŠKODA has also developed a new Simply Clever solution for the compartment under the adjustable false boot floor. A special insert divided into various compartments ensures that items stored there do not slide around while on the move. In the large boot's main compartment, solutions such as the SigmaQuick boot nets keep things neat and tidy, with the nets being particularly easy to open.

Sustainability: recycled materials help protect the environment
ŠKODA is fully committed to sustainability with the ENYAQ iV, both in terms of its purely electric, zero-emission drive system and also in the choice of materials used. A large proportion of the materials used are recycled - including plastics, metals and glass - which means the Czech car manufacturer is helping to conserve natural resources. 13.1 kg of the plastics used in the ŠKODA ENYAQ iV are recycled, as is 40% of the steel and 60% of the aluminium. In the Design Selection 'Lodge', the seat upholstery is made of 40% natural new wool, bearing the Woolmark Company's seal of approval, and 60% from recycled PET bottles. The leather of the Design Selection 'ecoSuite' is tanned in an environmentally friendly way using olive leaf extracts. ŠKODA is also testing fillers made from sugar beet fibres for plastic parts.
ŠKODA is focusing entirely on sustainability as it enters the era of electromobility - this also applies to the selection and composition of the various materials. The aim is to reduce the use of raw materials from non-renewable sources, and to reduce weight and therefore energy consumption. The new ENYAQ iV already uses 13.1 kg of recycled plastics. These are mainly used for exterior applications, such as underbody covers. The material required for this is reclaimed from old battery housings and bumpers. The proportion of recycled steel used in the body is 40% and for aluminium it is as high as 60%, and 20% of the ENYAQ iV's side window panes are recycled.
New plastics and fillers from sugar beet fibres under development
ŠKODA continues to develop sustainable materials and is already working on further applications, focusing on environmentally friendly materials that have been reclaimed and contain natural ingredients. This means they have a smaller carbon footprint than conventional raw materials. These natural ingredients include fibres from sugar beet, which are waste products from sugar refining. ŠKODA obtains these from the sugar refinery in Dobrovice near its headquarters in Mladá Boleslav and intends to use them to develop fillers for plastic parts. At the moment, technicians are working on defining the material parameters, as the plastics used in the automotive industry have to meet strict requirements.
Design Selections with sustainable seat upholstery
Sustainable materials are also used in the ENYAQ iV's interior. In addition to floor and boot mats made using fibres from recycled PET bottles and sound insulation made from recycled textiles, the ENYAQ iV also offers seat covers made of eco-friendly materials. In the Design Selection 'Lodge', these are made of 40% natural new wool and bear the Woolmark Company's Wool Blend Performance label, reserved for products containing between 30 and 49.9% new wool. The polyester for the remaining 60% of this upholstery fabric has been reclaimed from recycled PET bottles.
In addition to 'Lodge', the Design Selection 'ecoSuite' also offers sustainable seat covers. The cognac-coloured leather is produced without the typical use of chromium sulphate-based chemicals. Instead, olive leaf extracts are used in the tanning process. This is sustainable and therefore better for the environment: it makes efficient use of olive leaves, which are considered waste material in other industries. The leather upholstery in seats and other parts of the interior in the 'ecoSuite' features a smooth, grained texture. The seats also bear a badge indicating that the leather has been processed in an eco-friendly manner.
