Chevrolet is an American automaker and a brand of General Motors, founded in 1911 by racing driver Louis Chevrolet and businessman William C. Durant. It became part of General Motors in 1918, where it now serves as the group's high-volume, mainstream marque, positioned below the premium Buick and GMC and the luxury Cadillac. It builds a wide range of vehicles from small cars to trucks; its best-known models include the Corvette sports car (from 1953) and the Camaro. The brand is active and sold worldwide.
