TWR carries on from the British motorsport and engineering firm Tom Walkinshaw Racing, founded in 1976 near Oxford by racing driver Tom Walkinshaw. It became famous for its success with Jaguar — winning Le Mans in 1988 with the XJR-9, in touring cars and in Formula One — and also built road cars such as the Jaguar XJ220. The original company closed in 2002. The name has been revived by Tom's son Fergus Walkinshaw, and its first car is the Supercat (2025), a Jaguar XJS restomod with a supercharged V12 producing 660 hp, planned in a run of 88 units.
