Smart is an automotive marque founded in 1994, its name coined from Swatch, Mercedes and 'art'. It became known for city microcars, above all the two-seat Fortwo with its Tridion safety cell, and the four-seat Forfour. Today it concentrates on small electric vehicles in the #1, #3 and #5 range. Since 2019 the brand has been run by a 50/50 joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and China's Geely, based in Ningbo, China. It is active.
