Mitsubishi Motors is a Japanese carmaker headquartered in Tokyo, established as a separate company in 1970, though car production within the Mitsubishi group dates back to 1917. It is known for off-road vehicles and four-wheel drive; its best-known models include the Pajero SUV, the Lancer Evolution and ordinary Lancer, the Colt and the i-MiEV electric car. The brand achieved major rally success, notably twelve wins in the Dakar Rally. Since 2016 it has been a member of the Renault–Nissan–Mitsubishi Alliance and remains active.
