Maybach is a German luxury car marque. The original firm, Maybach-Motorenbau, was founded in 1909 by Wilhelm Maybach and his son Karl and built opulent prestige cars between the wars. The name went dormant after the Second World War and was acquired by Daimler-Benz in 1960. From 2002 to 2013 Daimler attempted a standalone revival with the 57 and 62 models, but withdrew them after poor sales. Since 2014 Maybach has existed as the Mercedes-Maybach luxury sub-brand.
