Hummer is an American brand of off-road SUVs and pickups whose first model, the H1, appeared in 1992 as a civilian version of the military Humvee built by AM General. General Motors bought the brand name in 1999 and added the smaller H2 and H3 models. Amid the financial crisis and concerns over fuel consumption, the brand was discontinued in 2010. In 2022 the name returned as the electric GMC Hummer EV, this time as a model under the GMC brand.
