EDAG is a German engineering firm rather than a conventional carmaker. It was founded in 1969 in Groß-Zimmern near Darmstadt, originally as Eckard Design. It provides development and engineering services mainly to the automotive industry — from vehicle development and production-plant planning to small-series manufacturing. It showcases its capabilities through concept cars such as the Show Car No. 8, the Light Car, and the Light Cocoon. The EDAG Engineering Group is active, employs around 9,000 people, and is based in Arbon, Switzerland.
