Borgward is a German car marque based in Bremen, founded in 1933 by Carl F. W. Borgward. In the 1950s it was one of Germany's leading manufacturers, famous for the Isabella, but the company collapsed in 1961 after insolvency. The brand was revived in 2008 by Borgward Group AG, set up in Switzerland by Carl's grandson Christian Borgward, with manufacturing and funding provided by China's Foton (BAIC group). Modern SUVs such as the BX7 and BX3 appeared from 2015 onwards, but the revived company again filed for bankruptcy in 2022.
