Cadillac is an American car manufacturer, the luxury division of General Motors, of which it has been part since 1909. Founded in 1902 in Detroit, it is named after Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, the French founder of that city. Historically it pioneered automotive technology, including the electric starter and mass-produced V8 engines. Well-known models include the DeVille, Eldorado and the large Escalade SUV. Today it offers both combustion and electric vehicles (such as the Lyriq) and is entering Formula One from the 2026 season.
